NEW! Bimodal format.  This workshop will be given in person and online simultaneously.

Need to use BibTeX but don't know where to start?

BibTeX is a free, open-source software for bibliographic reference management. It is compatible with LaTeX, a word-processing and markup language program used in several departments at Polytechnique. BibTeX can also be used to produce high-quality scientific bibliographies in the IEEE style, both in English and in French.

In this workshop, you will learn how to use BibTeX to create bibliographies in your LaTeX documents on Overleaf. Moreover, you will discover some useful tips with LaTeX such as how to create tables, equations, and footnotes. Polytechnique’s bilingual template for dissertations and theses will also be presented.

Purpose

By the end of this workshop, you will know how to:

  • Understand the structure of a .tex document;
  • Create a .bib file of bibliographic references;
  • Add and import new references;
  • Produce an IEEE-style bibliography in a LaTeX document;
  • Use the Polytechnique bilingual thesis and dissertation template.
